Ambassador Cason recognizes work of the General Controller’s Office Support Unit

The Ambassador of the United States James C. Cason visited the General Controller’s Office Support Unit. In the opportunity, the U.S. Ambassador awarded the General Controller, Octavio Airaldi, a certificate for the efforts developed by this institution in the fight against corruption.

Consequently, Ambassador Cason gave Roy Rodgers Canas, the Director of the General Controller’s Office Support Unit, a white cowboy hat for the work this technical unit has been performing in the combat against corruption and impunity.

The General Controller’s Office Support Unit has been established with the support of USAID, and has trained employees of the Unit, helped develop job manuals, donated computers and helped improve the infrastructure of the Unit.

Since its creation, the Support Unit has made possible a better coordination with the Public Ministry, in a way that the Controller’s Office reports cases to the Public Ministry in a more solid way, with data and probative elements that allow a much more effective fiscal investigation in economic crimes and corruption cases.

The efforts and the final objective of the American aid seek to strengthen the Controller’s Office, the Public Ministry and other institutions with infrastructure and necessary capacities to carry out such an important and difficult task in the fight against corruption and impunity.
