Ambassador Cason visits recycling program at Cateura

May 29, 2007

Last Tuesday, March 29, the Ambassador of the United States of America, James C. Cason, visited the Pro-cycle Project in Cateura, an Alter Vida Foundation initiative in alliance with the Municipality of Asuncion, also sponsored by USAID and IDB.

The visit took place in the Segregation, Storage and Commercialization Center where landfill scavengers meet twice a week for a workshop on how to make musical instruments from materials in the landfill. The initiative seeks to improve the quality of life of these recyclers.

Likewise, in this opportunity, the Children’s Orchestra of the Sound Program in Cateura offered a musical performance. This cultural activity is part of the Pro-cycle arts component in alliance with the ¨Program Sounds of My Land¨.
