Influenza A(H1N1)- Warden Message (April 30, 2009)

This Warden Message alerts U.S. citizens to the latest information regarding human cases of H1N1 Influenza A, formerly known as swine flu.  The Ministerio de Salud Pública y Bienestar Social has reported no cases of H1N1 Influenza A in Paraguay. 

Seven countries have reported cases of Influenza A(H1N1).  The United States has confirmed 64 cases, of which 1 was fatal.  Mexico has confirmed 26 cases, of which 7 were fatal.  Other countries that have confirmed human cases of Influenza A(H1N1), but with no fatalities are: Canada (6), Spain (2), Israel (2), New Zealand (3) and the United Kingdom (2).

While the Ministerio de Salud Publica y Bienestar Social does not recommend border closures or travel restrictions, it does ask travelers to monitor any flu like symptoms, seek medical attention if they become ill, and avoid travel if they become sick.  For more information, you may call the following toll free number: 0800-110-800.  You may also send an e-mail to: dgvs_cne@mspbs.gov.py.
