Internet Services for rural areas

To provide subsidized Internet services to rural areas of Paraguay

I decided I needed to write this note I wanted to show how appreciative I am.  We, the town of Isla Ybate, are now connected to the internet! Thank you so much for everything that you have done, without

your help, time, and many phone calls, none of this would have happened.

You are creating a project that I believe will be a great, positive change to this country.  Just think, five years ago, my community did not have electricity or running water. Now we are able to surf the web!

Once again, thank you

Bradley "Blas" Lazard

The project, also known as Last Mile Initiative, is being implemented in 25 countries of the world. In Latin America the beneficiaries are: Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Paraguay. 100 connectivity points will be selected in pilot communities in the Chaco and Coronel Oviedo City.

Oportunet in Paraguay is offering broadband internet service to its users. USAID’s main partner for this effort is The Paraguayan Foundation. This organization was selected to implement the project because of its long experience in implementing development projects that specifically focuses in rural area needs.
