The U.S. Embassy’s Donation to the Ministry of Public Health

October 16, 2008

The Ambassador of the United States of America, Liliana Ayalde  donated to the Minister of Health Esperanza Martinez  October 16, one vehicle and ten medical kits and basic instruments for primary care intended for the areas of the country designated by the Ministry of Health as the most in need . These areas include health centers in Concepcion, San Pedro and Caaguazú.  The donated vehicle (a Mercedes Benz, Sprinter 313 CDI model), is an integral part of the collaboration  between the Governments  of the United States  and Paraguay, channeled through the USAID project / DELIVER,  and will serve to support the distribution of medicine  from the central area of Paraguay  to 18 health regions of the country.

This contribution  from  the  people of the United States strengthens the capacities of the Ministry of Health and extends health aid to the neediest communities in Paraguay.  The U.S. Government, through USAID, has  provided $2.5 million in assistance for the health sector , a priority for the Administration of President Lugo.
