The Embassy of the United States of America donates medicines for diabetes and high blood pressure in coordination with an American Foundation and the Paraguayan Health Ministry

The Ambassador of the United States to Paraguay, James Cason, participated in a donation ceremony involving the donation of medicines by the Brother’s Brother foundation, through the Paraguayan chapter of B’nai B’rith and the Embassy of the United Status of America, to the Ministry of Health and Social welfare (Ministerio de Salud Publica y Bienestar Social).

This involved the donation of 11,880 bottles of Metformin, Glipizide, Propranol

and Hidrochlorothiazide which are all medicines specifically meant for the Paraguayan national program for the fight against Diabetes. This donation valued at $2 million dollars will be used in patients with diabetes and high blood pressure.

The ceremony took place at the Paraguayan Ministry of Health auditorium in Asuncion. Present at the ceremony were members of the Paraguayan Ministry of Health, representatives from the American Embassy in Asuncion, and the Paraguayan chapter of B’nai B’rith.

With this donation, the assistance in the area of health provided by the private sector of the United States of America, through the U.S. Embassy in Asuncion, has reached $37 Million over the past two years.
